A Vacation That Started It All
While honeymooning in the tropical paradise of Maui, former professional hockey player turned restaurant entrepreneur, Alex Hult, was presented with a “Hawaiian Sampler.” In three cups were a pina colada, a strawberry daiquiri, and a mai tai. It was from that trio of drinks that the vision for Flights Campbell developed into the ideal place for family and friend get-togethers.
Hult’s Margarita Flight is the first of many concepts that helped launch Flights. The Margarita Flight or “trio” includes a balanced fusion of a mango jalapeno margarita, a passion fruit pineapple margarita, and a traditional margarita. The mango jalapeno margarita perfectly blends the sweet mango juice with the spicy-tanginess of the jalapeno. With the next drink, customers are whisked away to the Hawaiian Islands when they take a sip of the passion fruit pineapple margarita, as the juices elevate the margarita to a tropical level. The last drink is a well-made traditional margarita, and it is the tequila that is the shining star in this drink.
Entrees and Desserts at Flights Campbell
Flights’ doesn’t just provide patrons with plenty of drink and spirit options, the restaurant also caters to customers with flights of food for dinner and lunch. With three full-sized entries in each flight, the tapas style restaurant is the best place for large parties or adventurous foodies. This time, Flight’s head chef brings inspiration from Hawaii with the Ahi Tuna Flight. This flight consists of tuna served three equally interesting ways – seared, sashimi style, and Hawaiian poke style. The tuna is paired with avocado, jalapeno, sesame seeds, and macadamia nuts in their respective dishes to bring out the tuna’s flavor and texture.
Your night of trios culminates with one of the dessert flights duly named the Cast Iron Cookie Flight. The white chocolate macadamia nut, chocolate chip, and peanut butter cookies are topped with a smooth scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Finally, a true testament to the success and deliciousness of the food at Flights is the fact that a new location will be opening up in Los Gatos on January 20th. This larger location will ensure that more patrons are able to appreciate the enticing trios. For those in the northern part of Highway 101, Flights will be opening their Burlingame location in Spring of 2018. Be on the lookout for more Flights locations to open soon!
