The story behind Henry’s world famous Hi-Life!

There’s a story behind a restaurant when you enter a place and the walls begin to speak to you. Henry’s World Famous HiLife, one of the most acclaimed restaurants in San Jose, has just those kind of walls.

The story takes us all the way to 1950, when together with his wife, Henry Puckett, an Idaho native and World War II veteran, first opened Henry’s HiLife on North First Street. For over six decades Henry’s has been a meat lover’s heaven. Henry Puckett’s only inspiration was always “Great food. Great service.”  Since 1990, preservationists and customers have saved the historic building from demolition, which has also survived a flood from the nearby Guadalupe River.

Now Pucketts’ grandson, Jason Alarid, carry forward Henry and his wife’s legacy.

For a healthy appetite, you can shoot for a 24-ounce porterhouse that is worth every penny.

You can watch your favorite sport teams while you enjoy Henry’s full bar.  Located just 2 short blocks from the SAP Center, it’s also the gathering place for Shark’s pregame tailgating! And if you have no tickets to the game, no worries, the live atmosphere at Henry’s keeps the excitement going.

Well many say “There’s no other place like it in the world.”  We say it’s a place not to be missed…
